Marc Floris, 33, suspected of having killed a young woman on Sunday in a town overlooking the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, was tracked down by nearly 200 gendarmes in the mountains surrounding the village of Gréolières, where he was entrenched.
A man whose "description matches" was found dead late Tuesday morning, the gendarmerie announced.
The hypothesis of a suicide seems to be privileged.
