About 180 representatives of outstanding Taiwanese youth students in Beijing and representatives of Beijing Youth Federation members attended the summit.
With the theme of "New Era·New Journey·New Deeds", the event was sponsored by Beijing Youth Federation, Beijing Student Federation, and Haidian District People’s Government.
Long Mingbiao, deputy director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council’s Taiwan Affairs Office, said at the opening ceremony that no matter what difficulties cross-strait relations may encounter, the strong desire of young people on both sides of the strait to exchange and cooperate and expect mutual understanding will not change.
He pointed out that realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation requires the joint efforts of compatriots on both sides of the strait.
Young people on both sides of the strait must join hands to shoulder the important tasks entrusted by the times, and make due contributions to the comprehensive construction of a modern socialist country and the realization of the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
He said that Taiwan youths are welcome to visit and exchange in the mainland, understand the development situation of the motherland, and encourage Taiwan youths to come to the mainland to display their talents and develop their careers.
Hong Xiuzhu, chairman of the China Qingyan Peace Education Foundation and former chairman of the Chinese Kuomintang, said in a video speech that the mainland government and all sectors of society have expressed their willingness to provide assistance when the epidemic in Taiwan repeats. This is a concrete manifestation of "a family relationship on both sides of the strait."
I hope that young people on both sides of the strait can cherish this love, work together to overcome all difficulties, and jointly create a bright future for both sides of the strait.
Cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation should be used to promote the peaceful and integrated development of the two sides and realize the Chinese dream of peaceful reunification of the two sides of the strait at an early date.
After the opening ceremony, guests from both sides of the strait including Wang Bo, Vice President of Beijing Institute of Technology, Lin Yanchen, a Taiwanese student from the School of Finance of Peking University, Chen Peiyu, Chairman of the Youth Federation of Beijing Haidian District, and Wang Zheng, Chairman of the Taiwan Chinese Youth Development Federation, made keynote speeches.
