China News Service, Beijing, July 19th. On July 18, local time, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Egyptian Foreign Minister Shukri in Alamein and met with Secretary-General Gate of the League of Arab States.
Wang Yi said that as the rotating chairman of the Security Council, China promoted the Security Council to deliberate on the Palestine issue five times during the Palestine-Israel conflict and finally issued the president’s press statement.
A few days ago, the Chinese side once again held a Palestine-Israel peace seminar, making unremitting efforts to promote a ceasefire and resumption of talks between Palestine and Israel.
Without a foundation of justice, there can be no lasting peace.
The establishment of an independent Palestinian state should not be delayed indefinitely, and the legitimate rights of the Arab people should not be ignored for a long time.
The "two-state solution" is the only realistic way to resolve the Palestinian issue.
All parties involved in the Palestine issue and the international community should make concrete efforts to promote the "two-state solution" on the basis of UN resolutions.
China proposes the following three ideas:
First, the authority of the Palestinian National Authority should be strengthened, empowered to exercise state sovereignty functions in security, finance, and other fields, so as to achieve effective control over autonomy and the occupied territories; second, support the Palestinian factions to strengthen unity and pass Consultation and dialogue to achieve internal reconciliation and form a unified negotiating position on the settlement of the Palestinian issue; third, Palestine and Israel should be encouraged to restart peace talks on the basis of the "two-state solution."
The negotiators of Palestine and Israel are welcome to come to China for direct negotiations.
At the same time, China calls for the holding of an international peace conference led by the United Nations, with the participation of permanent members of the Security Council and various stakeholders in the Middle East peace process, in order to seek a comprehensive, lasting and just solution to the Palestine issue and to achieve peaceful coexistence between Palestine and Israel.
Shukri and Gate expressed that they agree with the relevant ideas put forward by China and are willing to closely communicate and coordinate with China on the Palestinian issue. They hope that the international community urges Israel to stop establishing settlements in the occupied territories and lift the blockade on the Gaza Strip.
China has no history of foreign colonization and aggression. It has always stood on the side of international morality and principles. It has played a positive role in promoting the settlement of the Palestine issue. It is expected that China will play a greater role in regional affairs.
