According to the Ministry of Defense, the patient removed a voluminous 8-centimeter tumor that grew from the left atrium and descended into the left ventricle through the mitral valve.

The dangerous tumor was mixed: it combined myxoma and rhabdomyoma.

The surgeons treated all the heart chambers with a special laser and electricity, as well as performed coronary artery bypass grafting and restored the heart rhythm.

“The uniqueness of the operation is evidenced by the fact that the patient remained alive after such a complex manipulation.

The tumor has penetrated so much into all parts of the heart that it was impossible to remove it either with a hand or with a tool, ”said the head of the hospital, Major General of the Medical Service, Honored Doctor of Russia, Doctor of Medical Sciences Alexander Esipov.

Cardiac surgeons had to cut the heart out of the chest, cutting it completely across, he noted.

"During the operation, the patient's clinical death occurred twice," added Esipov.

The operation was carried out by a team of specialists led by the head of the cardiac surgery center, professor, doctor of medical sciences, honored doctor of Russia Alexander Lishchuk.

After the operation, the dynamics of the patient's recovery is at a good level, the ministry noted, he will be prepared for discharge and rehabilitation on an outpatient basis at the place of residence in a week.

“Top-level professionals work here.

I perfectly understand that Dr. Alexander Lischuk and his team saved my life.

The tumor was developing so rapidly that it seemed that the count had already been going on for days, ”said the patient Vladimir himself.

As specified in the defense department, a unique "hybrid operating room" has been created in the hospital.

It is an innovative operational and diagnostic complex that combines all modern cardiac surgery and diagnostic technologies in a single unit.

It can carry out up to 50 high-tech operations per month.
