Chinanews.com, July 19, according to New Zealand Chinese Herald. In the latest news released on July 19, the New Zealand Immigration Service announced that as the median hourly wage increases, the Immigration Service can give priority to the types of skilled immigrants. And the salary requirements for the application for transfer of work to residency will also change accordingly.

In addition, the priority of some visa applications has been increased.

  The Minister of Immigration confirmed in June that starting July 19, the median hourly wage will rise to 27 New Zealand dollars per hour.

It also means that the salary standard for skilled immigration applications linked to the median hourly salary will also increase.

  The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Immigration Bureau (Acting) pointed out that starting from the 19th, except for skilled migration (SMC) and work transfer residency (RFW) applications that have an offer and require occupational registration, only the salary is equal to or higher than twice the median salary SMC and RFW applications (with an immediate salary of at least $54 and an annual salary of no less than $112,320) will be processed with the highest priority.

Prior to this, the salary standard was at least $51 per hour and no less than $106,080 per year.

  In addition, the processing priority of "second or subsequent resident visa" applications has also been raised. The Immigration Department said this is to reflect the government's previously announced policy that some applicants can be exempted from border restrictions on entering New Zealand.

  The following is the processing sequence of the latest resident visa application that will take effect on the 19th:

  The first priority will be given to the following residents to apply for visas:

  1. The applicant is in New Zealand, or the applicant is currently in the isolation-free travel zone and has submitted a residence visa application in the QFT zone.

Among them, the following categories can be given higher priority:

  ·For skilled immigration applications:

  Priority is given to applications that have a job offer and whose salary is equal to or higher than twice the median salary (that is, the current hourly salary is at least $54, and the annual salary is not less than $112,320); or applications that have an offer and require professional registration.

  ·For work-to-residence applications, including work permit-to-residence visa applications for outstanding talents (approved employers), outstanding talents (arts, culture and sports), Austronesian contribution, religious workers and positions on the long-term skill shortage list:

  Priority is given to applications that have a job offer and whose salary is equal to or higher than twice the median salary (that is, the current hourly salary is at least $54, and the annual salary is not less than $112,320); or applications that have an offer and require professional registration.

  2. Application for residence of spouse and dependent children.

  3. A residence application that can be processed under the instructions for support of the new crown pneumonia epidemic in a residence application.

  4. The following application:

  -Application for change of travel conditions of resident visa;

  -Resident visa holders and eligible former resident visa holders apply for permanent resident visas;

  -The second or subsequent resident visa application.

  5. A permanent resident visa application submitted according to the following instructions:

  -Talent (approved employer) work permit type;

  -Christchurch response visa (2019);

  -Global impact visa.

  The second priority will be given to applicants for overseas residence visa applications (applications other than the above priority categories).

  In each priority category, the Immigration Bureau will generally sort the applicants before and after the date of submission, and assign immigration officers to conduct follow-up hearings.

However, immigration officials still have discretion and can give priority to certain urgent applications based on specific circumstances.
