In view of the increasing number of infections, the government in Rome wants to adopt the “green passport” for domestic travel and events by midweek.

According to this, travelers should only be able to use planes, trains and intercity buses if they can prove complete immunization with two doses of vaccine, recovery from a Covid 19 disease or a negative test result from the past 48 hours using a QR code on their mobile phone.

Even at cultural and sporting events as well as at private celebrations after religious or civil ceremonies, the organizers must check the “green pass” of all visitors or participants. Anyone who gains entry without a “green pass” or forges it can be fined up to 400 euros. Anyone who does not comply with their control obligation must expect the facility to be closed for five days.

Football clubs and concert organizers want to ensure that an occupancy rate of up to 100 percent is allowed, provided that all spectators and visitors can show the “green pass”.

It is still open whether Italy will introduce a five-day quarantine for travelers returning from the risk countries Spain and Portugal.

It is highly controversial within the government coalition of Prime Minister Mario Draghi whether the restaurateurs should be forced to check the “green passport” when visiting the interior of restaurants.

On Saturday, the authorities recorded a little more than 3,100 new infections.

The number was last only higher on May 29 (3351 cases).

On average, more and more younger people became infected.

In Rome, according to the media, the health authority attributed dozen of corona cases to a pub in which the infected are said to have seen the quarter-finals of the European Football Championship between Belgium and Italy.

According to the Adnkronos news agency, several people were infected at a private party on the Italian island of Pantelleria between Sicily and Tunisia.

Because of the infection situation, the popular holiday island of Sardinia wants to monitor people from countries with high incidence values due to the delta variant more intensively, as the region announced on Saturday evening.

Work on an arrangement for it.

The tourism sector is important, said regional president Christian Solinas.

They want to guarantee everyone's safety.
