The toll of the severe bad weather which is currently ravaging part of western Europe continues to grow heavier.

156 deaths have now been recorded in Germany, while the total number of deaths in Europe stands at 183. 

The death toll from the devastating floods climbed to 156 in Germany, police said Sunday morning, bringing the death toll in western Europe to at least 183.

In the only German regional state of Rhineland-Palatinate, the local police reported 110 dead in a statement, against 98 in the previous report. In addition, one person perished during floods in southern Germany, where torrential rains also fell on Saturday.
