The Japanese and South Korean governments have decided to hold the first face-to-face summit between President Moon Jae-in and Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga in Tokyo on the 23rd, the opening day of the Tokyo Olympics, the Yomiuri Shimbun reported.

Yomiuri said that President Moon had decided to visit Japan for the Tokyo Olympics, and said that the Korea-Japan summit was scheduled at the Moto Akasaka Guesthouse in Tokyo.

Yomiuri predicted that the two leaders would discuss issues related to the comfort women and conscription victims through this summit.

In line with President Moon's visit to Japan, it is known that the Japanese government is planning to fire Hirohisa Soma, the general secretary of the Japanese Embassy in Korea, who caused a stir for sexual remarks aimed at President Moon.

In the course of a conversation with a JTBC reporter on the 15th, Soma was found to have denigrated President Moon's efforts to improve relations between Korea and Japan by using the expression 'masturbation', which means 'masturbation' in Korean, in the sense of self-righteousness.

Yomiuri said the Japanese government wants to avoid the inappropriate remarks made by Soma from becoming an obstacle to the Korea-Japan summit.

A high-ranking Japanese government official said, "As a diplomat, Souma's remarks were 'not to be said', Yomiuri added.
