“Unfortunately, since the approval of his candidacy in October last year, the political forces of Lebanon have not been able to reach agreement on the personal composition of the cabinet of ministers,” the statement said.
Zakharova noted that "it is a matter of concern that during this time the difficult socio-economic situation in the country has only worsened."
She called for the solution of all acute issues of the domestic political agenda by the Lebanese themselves in the legal field.
“We consider counterproductive the attempts of some external forces to stimulate purely internal political processes by threatening to use sanctions,” the Foreign Ministry spokeswoman added.
Earlier it was reported that Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov held a telephone conversation with the chairman of the Free Patriotic Movement of Lebanon, Gibran Bassil.
