Hear the doctor at Sahlgrenska talk about the most common injuries in connection with electric scooters in the clip.

In just a few years, cities around Sweden have been filled with rental electric scooters.

A good commuting tool, some say, life-threatening, others say.

Chief physician Ragnar Ang has investigated how many accidents connected to electric scooters come into the emergency room at Sahlgrenska and Mölndal, and he is critical of the so-called micro-mobility.

The survey shows that more than half of all those who enter the emergency room with injuries connected to the electric scooters had drunk alcohol.

And not even one in ten wore a helmet.

After the restrictions have eased, the staff in the emergency room has noticed an increase in the number of people coming in with injuries connected to the electric scooters.

- This risk factor is completely new, those who use electric scooters would otherwise have walked or taken public transport, says Ragnar Ang.

Joar Bjelkholm, who is regional manager at the electric scooter company Tier, says that private individuals, electric scooter companies and relevant authorities have a responsibility to reduce the number of accidents.

- Of course, it is also a responsibility of private individuals to think about their fellow road users, think about themselves and avoid alcohol in traffic, he says.

In the clip, you hear how the electric scooter company reasons.

One of the reasons for the accidents is that the electric scooters have too small wheels.

This means that at the smallest pit, edge or stone, people fall over and injure themselves.

Motor vehicles with such small wheels should not be faster than a fast walking speed of 6 km / h.

("Motorized" because otherwise skateboards, roller skates and tricycles will not be allowed.) If electric scooter companies want faster vehicles, they should be forced to use safer vehicles with larger wheels.

It is perfectly possible to build scooters with larger wheels.

I have my own electric scooter that I have used to and from work for 2 years, even in the winter.

A great way to commute to work.

In the clip, only the basics are mentioned.

Can you go 2?

As a professional driver, I have more and more seen parents with children / children on.

The father in this case has 1 child of around 5 years in front of him and a child behind, around 7 years of age, clinging to the father.

Absolutely sick bad judgment.

PS

Hey!

Several of the apps have clear safety instructions.

Among other things, that you are not allowed to ride more than one person, not ride under the influence of alcohol and that you must be over 18 years old.

Would have preferred a total ban on electric scooters.

Is often parked or overturned on the bike path so only one file can be used, which makes meeting difficult.

Or in the walkway and forces out walking in the bike path.

On the bike path, they are also an obstacle for work vehicles that sometimes drive there.

Added to get out and move on (heavy) electric scooters.

There is nothing wrong with ordinary bicycles (or electric scooters you own yourself instead of renting "Preferably throw VOI at the dump and do not make new ones.

I myself ride with pedals.

It is both energy efficient (few machines actually have as good efficiency as a bicycle!), Useful and cheap.

Men ...

Every day - yes, every!

- I meet an incorrectly parked electric scooter.

It stands in the middle of the sidewalk, is tossed across the bike path in a dark tunnel (which is fatal as it is not visible), blocks the walkway so you have to take a detour (and a wheelchair can not get there at all), and so on.

The anger I feel every time I see this borders on hatred.

Fortunately, I throw the incorrectly parked scooter in the nearest bush, which neutralizes some of the irritating hormones ...

It was a horrible whine on these electric scooters.

It is a great way to move, has a private one for 2 years now, works flawlessly.

Maybe it's us who have private driving a little more responsibly, I do not know.

Regardless, there is nothing wrong with the vehicle, but how they are used.

Riding legal speed on a bike path, with a helmet of course, shows consideration for others.

Perfect summer vehicle!

Since people drive drunk is another problem, not the scooter's fault.

If you have a private kick, you probably understand the rules that apply, but the rental scooters can be ridden by anyone who has a mobile.

And there is no helmet then to borrow either.

May feel that companies have a responsibility to provide helmets.

The rental kicks and idiots who use them ruin for us law-abiding ... there is usually no problem with private electric scooters.

There is always a constant nagging and whining as soon as something new enters the society that the "young people" use.

The same was true with hover-boards and Segways.

Probably the same with cars and bicycles when they arrived (and probably with horses also thousands of years ago).

Electric scooters are here to stay, and will be as obvious as trams in 10-20 years

Electric scooters are excellent as a door stop, tow (removed batteries) or whatever, but certainly not as a means of transport.
