"RDIF announces the registration of the Russian one-component vaccine against coronavirus Sputnik Light by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan," the statement says.

As the general director of the fund, Kirill Dmitriev, noted, Sputnik V has already been successfully used in Kazakhstan for the prevention of coronavirus infection.

"Registration of the Sputnik Light drug will provide the country with another highly effective and safe vaccine against coronavirus," he said.

According to him, this "will shorten the period of vaccination of the population and accelerate the creation of herd immunity."

Earlier, the Kazakh authorities announced that in September they plan to launch a biopharmaceutical plant in the Zhambyl region, where they will produce their vaccine against coronavirus.
