This is stated in a joint statement following a meeting in Moscow between US President's Special Envoy for Climate Issues John Kerry and Russian President's Special Envoy for Climate Ruslan Edelgeriev.

According to RIA Novosti, the statement notes that Russia and the United States intend to cooperate on a bilateral basis on a number of climate-related issues.

It is also reported that Russia hopes to increase cooperation with the United States on climate after the meeting between Kerry and Edelgeriev.

The Edelgeriev's office added that the Russian government must submit a roadmap to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 to a level lower than in the European Union by October 1, 2021.

Earlier, Kerry called the negotiations with his Russian counterpart Edelgeriev productive.
