Wounded by bullets during an attack in the middle of the street in Amsterdam, the Dutch journalist had been hospitalized since July 6.

He is dead, surrounded by those who love him,
”said the journalist's relatives.
The TV presenter had been hospitalized between life and death since July 6.
He had been shot in the head in an attack in the heart of Amsterdam city center as he left a television studio after a
talk show
in which he had intervened as a guest.
Two suspects in pre-trial detention
This attack was felt in the Netherlands
as a real shock
and had elicited many reactions from journalists and politicians, including beyond the borders of the Netherlands.
Two suspects briefly appeared in Dutch courts on Friday.
The investigating judge extended the pre-trial detention for two weeks for the two suspects, identified by national media as Kamil E., a 35-year-old Polish national residing in Maurik, in the center of the country, and Delano G., a 21-year-old Rotterdam resident.
The journalist and television presenter was a personality known in the Netherlands for his role in several criminal cases.
He has appeared regularly as a spokesperson for victims or in the close circle of key witnesses.
After the attack, Peter R. De Vries was hailed as "
a national hero
".
