The death toll from the catastrophic hospital fire at an al-Nasiriyya ward in Iraq rose yesterday.

More than 90 people are now said to have been burned inside the building.

Earlier, there was talk of 60 dead and over 100 injured.

60 people must have been saved so far.

The fire is believed to have started with an explosion in an oxygen tank in the isolation ward for covid patients.

Grieving and angry relatives accuse the hospital of poor security and the authorities' poor preparedness.

The hospital must have had thin panel walls that cleared the flames and lacked sprinkler systems.
