France now has 43,700 charging stations for electric vehicles open to the public and has accelerated their installation since the beginning of the year, announced Thursday the Ministry of Ecological Transition.

11,000 additional terminals have been installed since the start of the year (+ 33%), including 5,000 in the last two months, said the ministry, which in October 2020 had set a target of 100,000 terminals by the end of 2021 These 5,000 terminals in two months represent a volume equivalent to that installed over a full year until the end of 2020, according to the ministry.

Half of the motorway service areas, i.e. 164 in the region, are equipped with fast charging stations, which theoretically allow 80% charging in less than 20 minutes.

France now has more than 612,000 public and private charging points, between company car parks, condominiums and individuals.

2,700 of them have a power greater than 50 kilowatts.
