US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman is visiting Korea and Japan next week.



According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the U.S. State Department, Deputy Minister Sherman will visit South Korea on the 21st and hold the '9th Strategic Dialogue with South Korea-U.S. Vice Foreign Ministers' on the 23rd with 1st Vice Foreign Minister Choi Jong-gun.



The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "It will serve as an opportunity to further strengthen cooperation between the Republic of Korea and the United States on Korean Peninsula, regional and global issues."



Prior to his visit to Korea, Deputy Minister Sherman is scheduled to attend the 8th Korea-U.S.-Japan Vice Foreign Ministers' Meeting to be held in Tokyo, Japan on the 21st.



The Korea-U.S.-Japan Vice Foreign Ministers' Council is the first in four years since October 2017.



The U.S. State Department said that during this consultation, trilateral cooperation on regional security issues such as North Korea and urgent common tasks such as climate change and global health will be discussed.



China is not included in the travel itinerary announced by the State Department.
