A total of 147 years of imprisonment are sentenced when people with connections to the so-called Vårbynätverket are convicted of serious and extensive crime.

- The verdict is quite expected, says SVT's reporter Diamant Salihu in Aktuellt.

Is that the end of the Spring Village Network?

- A new Vårbyn network will emerge, people who see a void now that these leaders will be serving long prison sentences.

There is growth already now, says Salihu.

"Military sight organized"

The longest sentence, 17 years and ten months, is given to 33-year-old Chihab Lamouri, who runs the "military-organized" network.

He is one of a total of 27 people convicted by Södertörn District Court in one of the largest cases involving serious and organized crime.

The defense addresses both the image given by the 33-year-old and his role in the network and the evidence that formed the basis for the goal - communication from the encryption service Encrochat.

Dennis Martinsson, PhD in criminal law at Stockholm University, agrees that there may be some problems with the evidence.

- In the countries where this technology has emerged, it has been ok to eavesdrop on an entire server.

This means that it has been possible to eavesdrop on anyone who has an Encro chat phone.

It differs from how it is in Sweden.

Here, the individual decision is required for each person as one such phone.

- There are question marks about how this evidence has been collected.

The verdict will be appealed.

Will the Court of Appeal view the evidence differently?

- I think it is good that this is being tried in a higher instance, says Dennis Martinsson.
