A member of the South Korean parliament, Kim Byung-ki, told the press that the loss of North Korean President Kim Jong Un will not affect his ability to rule his country.

"If there is a problem with his health, there will be indications about the drugs that will be imported from the clinic responsible for Kim's health, but nothing like this has been observed," said Byung-ki, who obtained his information from an intelligence agency. The skinny man, who the National Intelligence Service estimates to have lost about 44 pounds, still has "several hours" of meetings and there is nothing abnormal about his gait.

And the latest photo of the North Korean leader, who previously weighed about 308 pounds, indicated that the 37-year-old Kim had lost a large amount of weight, which renewed speculation about his health.

Commander Kim, who is five feet four inches tall, looked thinner and the strap of his luxury watch was tighter than before.

Kim's health has long been of global concern given that he has not appointed any successor to the leadership of North Korea, which has a sophisticated nuclear arsenal that targets the United States and its allies if threatened.

Last month, Pyongyang residents told state media that North Koreans were deeply saddened by Kim's "poor appearance".
