Foreign Minister Mogi will visit four countries in Central America and the Caribbean, including Cuba and Panama, from the 15th.

I would like to exchange opinions with foreign ministers over the response to China, which is becoming more influential in this region, and confirm the importance of a free and open international order based on the rule of law.

Foreign Minister Mogi will visit Guatemala, Panama, Cuba, and Jamaica's four Central American and Caribbean countries from the 15th to the 21st of this month, following a visit to five Central American countries in January.

During his stay, he will meet with foreign ministers from four countries, as well as online meetings with SICA (Central American Integration System), which is formed in eight Central American countries, and CARICOM (Caribbean Community), which consists of 14 countries in the Caribbean Sea. Are also planned respectively.

During the series of visits, Minister Mogi will exchange views on responding to global issues such as measures against the new coronavirus, disaster prevention, and climate change, and strengthening economic cooperation.

In addition, given that many Central American and Caribbean countries have diplomatic relations with Taiwan, we can openly exchange opinions on how to deal with China, which is becoming more influential in this region, and open it freely under the rule of law. I would like to confirm the importance of the international order that has been established.
