- Of course, this is a problem because Region Skåne in its agreement with Cerner Sverige AB has global support of the system.

We will address this with Cerner as soon as possible, says Harald Roos, steering group chairman of Skåne's digital care system, SDV, by phone to SVT.

But have you not raised this issue with Cerner before?

- Yes, we have, and therefore I am not very surprised that we ended up here again.

The lack of case law in this area is problematic.

Must follow Swedish law

It is unclear whether the Privacy Protection Authority's latest views on Skåne's handling of personal data in the new record system will delay the introduction of the system once again.

- My assessment is that since the issue has not been unknown, this does not necessarily mean a delay.

But we have to sit down and investigate now.

But what demands can Region Skåne place on this US-owned company?

-

Region Skåne has an agreement with Cerner Sverige AB which has promised to comply with Swedish and European law.

If their global support would be a violation of that legislation, then it is clear that we can not use it, says Harald Roos.

More to investigate

Region Skåne has now contacted the Västra Götaland region, which has also signed a contract with Cerner, to cooperate in the issue of the global support of the system.

In addition, the region's internal and external lawyers will investigate the matter further.

SVT has also sought regional director Alf Jönsson who is on holiday.
