July 14, 2021 Seventeen Italian cities have submitted their candidacy to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 which will take place in our country in the month of May. The cities of Bologna, Genoa, Florence, Milan, Rome, Turin, Trieste, among the regional capitals, responded to the Rai announcement for the expression of interest, while the provincial capitals included Alessandria, Matera, Pesaro, Rimini, Viterbo. The municipalities of Acireale (Catania), Bertinoro di Romagna (Forlì -Cesena), Jesolo (Venice), Palazzolo Acreide (Syracuse), Sanremo (Imperia) are also candidates. All the cities that have submitted the application will receive a more detailed document with the necessary requirements to participate in theEsc 2022 and the choice will be made by Rai - in coordination with the European Broadcasting Union - by the end of August.
Italy will host the next Eurovision Song Contest, as the winner of the last edition, with the Maneskin at the top of the world rankings. This is the first time in 31 years.
