Ethiopia talks about Qatar's position on the Renaissance Dam issue

The Ethiopian Embassy in Doha reported that the Qatari authorities support Ethiopia's right to development and consider that discussions on the Renaissance Dam belong to the African Union.

The embassy said, through its account on Twitter, that the Ethiopian ambassador to Doha, Samia Zakaria Goto, met today, Wednesday, with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in Qatar, Sultan Saeed Al-Muraikhi, where the latter confirmed that his country "supports Ethiopia's right to development and has not changed Its firm position on the Renaissance Dam issue.

Al-Muraikhi indicated, according to the Ethiopian statement, that "discussing the issue of the Renaissance Dam is a matter of the African Union and must continue to be discussed."

The Ethiopian embassy also indicated that the discussions touched on bilateral issues between the two countries.

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs published a statement on the meeting that took place in Doha, saying that the two sides reviewed the bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries, without mentioning any other details.
