"Decisions of interstate bodies adopted on the basis of the provisions of international treaties of Russia in their interpretation, contrary to the Constitution of Russia, are not subject to execution in Russia," Volodin quoted the text of the amendment to Art.

79 of the Constitution of Russia.

He noted that the ECHR is primarily concerned with such interstate bodies.

Volodin stressed that "judges of the ECHR, when making such decisions, must know the national legislation of the country to which it applies and be guided by it, if it is a priority."

“In this matter, the judges showed a lack of qualifications, making, in fact, an illegal decision that contradicts national legislation,” the speaker concluded, noting that the right decision for the judges of the ECHR would be to resign.

Earlier, State Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov condemned the ECHR's call to legalize same-sex marriage in Russia.

As RIA Novosti reported, the ECHR published a message on its website in which it called the refusal of same-sex couples to marry in Russia unfair.
