Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Iran’s nuclear negotiations are close to "resulting"

Xinhua News Agency, Tehran, July 12 (Reporter Wang Shoubao and Gao Wencheng) Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Khatibzad said on the 12th that the Iranian nuclear talks are close to "resulting."

Khatibzad said at a regular press conference that day that in view of the progress made in the negotiations in Vienna, the capital of Austria, the negotiations are close to "resulting."

Although there are still issues that have not been resolved, "the weight of the resolved issues is greater than the unresolved issues".

Khatibzad said that in order to resolve related issues, the parties involved in the Iranian nuclear agreement have “traveled a long way” and the remaining road is not smooth. He hopes that other parties can make decisions and reach an agreement that benefits everyone. .

Khatibzad stated that Iran’s unanimous opinion is that the United States should effectively lift sanctions against Iran, and once the Iranian side confirms the relevant situation, it will immediately resume fulfilling its obligations.

In July 2015, Iran reached a comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue with the United States, Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany.

According to the agreement, Iran promised to restrict its nuclear program and the international community lifted sanctions against Iran.

In May 2018, the US government unilaterally withdrew from the Iran nuclear agreement, and subsequently restarted and added a series of sanctions against Iran.

Since May 2019, Iran has gradually suspended the implementation of certain provisions of the Iran nuclear agreement, but promised that the measures taken are "reversible."

On April 6 this year, the relevant parties to the Iranian nuclear agreement began to hold talks in Vienna to discuss the issue of the United States and Iran resuming compliance.
