"The negotiations are over," Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president, told TASS.

Earlier, the heads of state met in St. Petersburg, in the Constantine Palace in Strelna.

According to Peskov, the meeting of the presidents was not unexpected, the leaders reached an agreement on it earlier, but no announcement was made.

During the meeting, Lukashenka announced that the opponents of the Belarusian authorities were switching to a strategy of individual terror.

He also urged "not to worry" about the restrictive measures from the West and noted that Moscow and Minsk will be able to effectively resist external pressure together.

Putin, in turn, called Minsk a great and reliable partner in the economic sphere. According to him, the indicators of trade between the countries in the first four to five months of 2021 increased by more than 37%.
