RIA Novosti informs about it with reference to the DEA representative.

“One of the suspects in the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moise was a confidential DEA source,” the agency said.

It is noted that the department urged its informant to surrender to the local authorities.

Also, the American side provided the government of Haiti with "information that contributed to the surrender and arrest of the suspect and another person."

The department also said it was aware of reports that Moise's killers shouted "DEA" during the attack.

"These people were not acting on behalf of the DEA," said a spokesman for the anti-drug agency.

Earlier, State Department spokesman Ned Price said that the United States is aware of the detention of three American citizens as part of the investigation into the murder of Moise.

According to media reports, they served as informants for US law enforcement agencies, including the FBI.

On the night of July 7, unidentified persons attacked the residence of the President of Haiti.

The head of state died from his injuries.
