In his letter, the public figure noted that smoking citizens spend up to 60 minutes of working time per day on the addiction, or about 20 working days in a calendar year.

At the same time, as Khamzayev clarified, all the costs associated with the smoking of workers are forced to bear by employers and the state.

“I propose to consider the possibility of introducing into the Labor Code of the Russian Federation the right for non-smoking employees for an additional ten days of vacation a year,” the appeal says.

Khamzaev added that a positive example of reward would be an effective mechanism for consciously motivating smokers to quit the addiction.

Earlier, the Ministry of Health announced a reduction in alcohol and tobacco consumption in Russia.
