Global Health warns of a new, more virulent mutant

The World Health Organization has warned of a new, more virulent mutant, "lambda", which accounts for 70% of Chile and Argentina's infections in recent weeks.

She added that the number of these mutations has reached 11 mutations so far.

The lambada mutant, also known as C.37, was first detected in Peru in August 2020. On June 14, the World Health Organization classified C.37 as an interesting global variant, and it was named lambada.

It spread in 29 countries, and at high levels in South American countries in particular.

In recent months, the lambda variant has been detected in 81% of COVID-19 cases in Peru that have undergone genetic sequencing tests, and 31% of similar cases in Chile.
