Taking off, the People’s Air Force bred and set sail here.

Taking off, the People’s Air Force flew to the battlefield from here.

The site of the Northeast Old Aviation School at Hailang Airport in Mudanjiang, Heilongjiang is the take-off place of the People’s Air Force. Dandong Langtou Airport in Liaoning is the take-off place of the People’s Air Force. These two take-off places are the cradle of the People’s Air Force in which the People’s Air Force bred and grew up. It is also a historical landmark witnessing the party’s leadership in the construction of the People’s Air Force.

On the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the two take-off locations in Baishan and Heishui were refurbished, and groups of officers and soldiers came here to carry out special party day activities.

Following the battle heroes, veteran pilots and their descendants, the reporter visited two old sites, relived the passion of the year, and explored the red track of the development and growth of the People’s Air Force.

Shocking track: The People’s Air Force bred and set sail here

Stepping on this familiar land again, listening to the roar of planes on the runway in the distance, the kindness of 92-year-old Zhang Jilin came to life: "This place is my home. Every plant and tree in Hailang Airport is deep. The deep seal is engraved in my mind."

The vicissitudes of life, 70 years later, everything has changed, but it seems that nothing has changed.

Inside the airport, a section of the runway site is still the same as it was in the past. The ground is uneven with sand and gravel, and the iconic flat-topped mountains on the opposite side are undulating. The wind blowing from the mountain pass seems to be the smell of memory.

"It hasn't changed, it's been like this for decades!" Zhang Jilin burst into tears in his eyes.

In 1951, Zhang Jilin was selected by the organization to come here and embark on his own "Road to Flying".

In the Exhibition Center of the Old Northeast Aviation School of the People’s Air Force, vivid historical pictures, real documents, and exquisite sand table models spread out the history of the People’s Air Force’s take-off, fine flight, and furious flight. Picture scroll.

Those exhibits that carry the memories of the times are fascinating and thought-provoking.

On March 1, 1946, the Northeast Democratic Alliance Aviation School, which people used to call the Northeast Old Aviation School, was formally established in Tonghua, Jilin.

One month later, the school moved to Mudanjiang Hailang Airport, which was the first aviation school founded by the People’s Army under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.

The People's Air Force took off from here.

Here, the ancestors of the old aviation school ate sorghum rice, gnawed their heads, and ate their meals with pickled vegetables.

Here, the older generation of pilots overcame difficulties and braved enemy plane bombing and bandit attacks to collect aircraft and aviation equipment throughout the northeast. Without gasoline, they tried every means to replace them with alcohol; lacking propellers, several aircraft shared one.

Here, a group of pilots with an average education level of less than elementary school level are struggling to tackle the "cultural barrier."

  ...

"It's different, the motherland is stronger, and the air force is stronger!" Zhang Jilin sighed repeatedly when he saw the content in the exhibition reflecting the achievements of today's People's Air Force construction.

"At the beginning of its establishment, the old aviation school was extremely difficult, and the school site was changed four times." Chang Ping, the son of Chang Qiankun, the old principal of the old northeast aviation school, said that the old seniors had "who are afraid of all difficulties and dangers, and are willing to give their youth to aviation" His revolutionary pride has created precedents for people pulling trains, horse-drawn planes, and going straight to higher education planes, composing a magnificent and arduous entrepreneurial epic.

By July 1949, the Northeast Old Aviation School had trained a total of 126 pilots, 24 navigators, and 410 aviation engineering, communications, meteorological and other various aviation technical talents, creating a precedent for our party and our army to independently train aviation talents.

Later, the "Northeast Old Aviation School" was also regarded as the "cradle of the People's Air Force."

The old aviation school has cultivated a large number of "air warriors" who have made outstanding contributions in the War of Resisting the US and Aid Korea, nurturing and forming the spirit of the old aviation school in Northeast China of "united struggle, hard work, dedication, and pioneering new roads".

Walking out of the exhibition center and passing through the old runway of the old aviation school, it is like a "time and space tunnel" leading to the past.

On the right side of the runway, the hayloft from the old aviation school period was restored. Aircraft models such as the "Nine-Nine" advanced trainer, P-51 modified trainer, and PT-19 elementary training plane used for flight training are neatly displayed.

Standing beside these former "comrades in arms", Zhang Jilin sighed with emotion: "Flying is always in my mind, and now I want to fly."

Zhang Jilin opened the chatterbox and shared his flight experience to the young pilots, and talked with them about the history of the old aviation school and exchanged flight experience.

"You have such good flying conditions, you must cherish it, practice hard on the ground, and fly fine in the air!" Zhang Jilin said.

The years are long, the past is calendar, and the songs are endless.

The spirit of the old aviation school has lasted forever and passed on from generation to generation.

Wang Xin, a "post-95" pilot of a brigade of air force in the northern theater of air force, has a lot of feelings: "As a young pilot of the new era, I will certainly inherit the glorious tradition of the old aviation school, integrate the red gene into my blood, and work hard to perfect it. Combat skills and flying skills will make new contributions to the motherland and people!"

First victory in the first battle: the People’s Air Force takes off from here to fight

More than 70 years have passed, but the Yalu River still flows quietly.

More than 70 years ago, groups of trainees of the old aviation school took off from the runway of Hailang Airport and learned how to fly. Soon after, the young People's Air Force who came from the old aviation school took off from Dandong Langtou and learned how to fight in air.

From not knowing how to fight to learning how to fight in the air, from being able to fight with small aircraft groups to daring to fight with large groups of aircraft, the Volunteer Air Force has learned warfare during the war and has gradually grown into a powerful air force.

Who could have imagined that the underground command room used by the Volunteer Air Force, which fought the miracle of the "MiG Corridor" that shocked the enemy, was so simple or even crude.

Stepping on the wet steps to enter the restored basement command room, although the outdoor heat is pressing, but the interior is extremely cool, even cold.

On the wall of the restored command room, there are many sketches of the Volunteer Air Force’s air combat. A classic example of combat has attracted attention——

The young Volunteer Air Force has developed a "queen bee tactic" in order to prevent the enemy from being defeated by the enemy alone in air combat. That is, the wingman pilots are required to fly around the queen bee like bees, so as to achieve team combat and form an air combat advantage. Use this tactic. In the battle at the mouth of the Qingchuan River, the flight regiment commander Zheng Changhua successfully shot down the enemy plane F-86, without any casualties on our side.

From the "zero" experience in air combat, to the "mystery" of air combat, to the conclusion of the air combat tactics of "one domain, multiple layers, four four systems", a history of passion and enthusiasm was created.

Tao Wei, 87 years old this year, said: "Back then, young volunteer air force pilots brought our army's tactical style of concentrating superior forces, defeating the enemy and fighting heroically to the sky, especially applying the spirit of'bayonet to red' in air combat. Formed the spirit of'air bayonet fighting'."

On May 17, 1953, 19-year-old pilot Tao Wei launched into combat.

"Closer, closer, closer again..." Facing the siege of multiple enemy planes, the fledgling Tao Wei clings to the belief that "I would rather smash the blue sky and knock down the enemy plane." The gun fired violently at 120 meters, the enemy plane exploded in the air, and the debris flew past Tao Wei's cockpit, setting a precedent for the People's Air Force to wipe out the enemy in close combat in the air.

The comrades exclaimed: "Where is the air cannon, this is the air bayonet!"

There is a saying among volunteer air force pilots: "My plane and I are the 201st round."

At that time, the MiG-15 was loaded with 200 rounds in the air. The so-called "201 rounds" means that after the aircraft’s rounds are lit, the pilot and the aircraft are the last round, the 201st round, which is the collision. Also knock down the enemy plane.

The 92-year-old Xibe pilot, Na Qiming, chanted the slogan "201 shells" and walked into the air combat battlefield.

In June 1952, over the Datong River in northwestern North Korea, Na Qiming in the flight formation heard information from the ground commander: "I heard the sound of the enemy aircraft, pay attention to search."

Na Qiming immediately turned to look for the enemy plane, and two F-84 fighters came into sight.

Under the cover of the wingman, Na Qiming successfully bit the tail.

Approaching, firing, missed for the first time, re-aiming, firing...The wingman repeatedly shouted on the radio: "Hit!"

Na Qiming first opened a record for the entire division to enter the North Korean war in air combat.

40 days later, on the way back from a mission, Na Qiming successfully hit two more enemy planes.

During the two-year and eight-month air battle to resist U.S. aggression and aid to Korea, the young People’s Air Force fought the sky, shot down 330 enemy planes and damaged 95 aircraft, creating the miracle of "building an army in one year and becoming famous in three years", and played a national prestige army. Wei.

Describe a more magnificent and glorious track

In order to build a powerful People’s Air Force, generations of Communists have been dreaming and exploring hard.

"Why is the battle flag so picturesque, the hero's blood stains her red..."

On the 7th day of the opening of the Northeast Old Aviation School, Ji Xiang, the chief of the flight department, suffered an airplane failure and fell to the aircraft fort on the side of the old runway. Unfortunately, he died. On the 14th day, the director of education, Cai Yunxiang, was on a transportation mission when the plane stalled and fell to the ground... …

"Faced with such a huge and continuous setback, the old aviation school staff never lost their confidence. The trainees took off from this runway one after another, including a large number of combat heroes such as Wang Hai and Liu Yudi." Said Wang Yuwei, political commissar of a brigade of the Air Force.

From the spirit of the northeast old aviation school to the spirit of "fighting bayonet in the air", as the unique spiritual wealth of the Air Force, it contains the spiritual pedigree and victory code of the People’s Air Force, and has become a key to accelerating the construction of a powerful People’s Air Force that integrates air and space, offensive and defensive. Surging power.

The 36-year-old "Golden Helmet" winner Yao Kai is currently the deputy chief of staff of a brigade of the Air Force Aviation.

Once, in my mission area, Yao Kai flew a plane to face off against a foreign fighter plane. Yao Kai calmly responded and drove the fighter plane close to the foreign military plane until the foreign fighter plane turned around and retreated.

Yao Kai relied on his superb skills to occupy a favorable position, and finally ensured the successful completion of the operation and defended the national interests.

"Even if you're a dead body, you must also suppress the opponent's arrogance!" Yao Kai said.

Pioneering innovation is the "birthmark" of the People's Air Force, and another genetic code for this flying service to move from victory to victory.

In the exhibition cabinet of the Northeast Old Aviation School of the People's Air Force, there is a graduation order from the old aviation school.

In the order, there are two names printed together: Chen Jifa and Liu Yudi.

Explainer Zhang Bo said that at the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, a pilot named Chen Liu flew over Tiananmen Square in a J-20 fighter plane. His grandfather and grandfather were Chen Jifa and Liu Yudi on the order.

As a descendant of the hero of the old aviation school, the new generation of pilot Chen Liu flew over Tiananmen Square in a new domestic fighter plane, which is not only a spiritual inheritance and a continuation of dreams, but also a tribute to the forefathers.

From history to the future, from victory to victory.

Standing at a new historical starting point, the People’s Air Force will keep in mind its original mission, carry forward its glorious tradition, be brave to innovate and surpass, and strive to embark on a new journey to build a world-class air force in an all-round manner, depicting a more magnificent and glorious flight path!
