12 July 2021 The sanctions in some specific economic sectors of Russia have been extended by 6 months, until 31 January 2022. This was decided by the EU Council for the destabilization of Ukraine. The decision taken after the last evaluation of the state of implementation of the Minsk agreements, at the European Council on 24 and 25 June



Sanctions


Economic sanctions were introduced for the first time on 31 July 2014. They were reinforced in September 2014 and in March 2015 the European Council has decided to link their life to the full implementation of the Minsk agreements.



What they predict


Specifically, the measures restrict access to EU primary and secondary capital markets for some Russian banks and companies and prohibit forms of financial assistance and intermediation for Russian financial institutions. The measures also prohibit the import, export or transfer of all defense-related material and establish a ban on military and civilian dual-use items. The sanctions also restrict Russian access to sensitive technologies that can be used in the energy sector.
