Marvel Studios' new film "Black Widow" made a thunderous debut at the US box office, pocketing $ 80 million in revenue between Friday and Sunday, a record since the start of the pandemic, according to figures released Monday by a specialized firm.

This Avengers spin-off, in which Scarlett Johansson plays Natasha Romanoff, a Russian killer turned superheroine, also grossed $ 60 million via the paid streaming platform Disney + and 78 million internationally, for a breathtaking total of 218 millions.

And the film has yet to start airing in China.

According to Hollywood Reporter magazine, Disney's announcement of its streaming revenue after the first weekend is "unprecedented."

Follow three films produced by Universal Studios: "Fast and Furious 9", in second position, but far behind "Black Widow", collected 11.4 million, less than half of its revenues last weekend.

“Boss Baby 2: A Family Affair” came in third with $ 8.9 million.

This animated film, which follows the box "Baby Boss" released four years ago, tells the story of a "baby boss" who leaves no one indifferent, with the voices of Alec Baldwin, Eva Longoria, Lisa Kudrow, Jimmy Kimmel and Jeff Goldblum.

And on the fourth step is the horror film "American Nightmare 5: Without Limits", the fifth and final episode of the "American Nightmare" saga.

The film, notably worn by Ana de la Reguera and Tenoch Huerta, has garnered 7.1 million dollars.

It takes place in a dystopian future where all crimes, including murder, are legalized one day a year.

Paramount Studios' "Quietly 2" ranked fifth with $ 3.2 million, bringing total North American revenue to nearly $ 150 million.

This is the first time since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic that the North American box office has totaled more than $ 100 million in revenue, with more than 118 million, or 20% more than the week past.

In the top 10, we also find:

"Cruella" ($ 2.4 million)

"Hitman & Bodyguard 2" (1.6 million)

"Peter Rabbit 2" (1.3 million)

"Where we come from" ($ 655,000)

"Zola" ($ 620,000)
