11 July 2021 A seven-year-old girl died in the afternoon while she was in an inflatable pool at her home in Umbria.

It happened in Castiglione del Lago, in the province of Perugia, in the hamlet of

Panicarola

, on

Lake Trasimeno

The parents of the little girl gave the alarm and found her unconscious pouring into the inflatable pool in the garden of the house.

The 118 health workers and the Carabinieri of Città della Pieve promptly arrived on the spot. Doctors have tried for a long time, for more than half an hour, to revive her but all attempts have proved in vain. There was about thirty centimeters of water in the pool. The prosecutor on duty, Franco Bettini, of the Perugia Public Prosecutor's Office, sent the coroner on the spot.

Health sources report, on the basis of the first hypotheses, that the girl had an illness, as it seems that she suffered from a serious neurological disorder. It will be the autopsy exam to establish with certainty what were the causes of death.

Another similar tragedy was instead touched upon in

Palermo

,

in

Monreale

. A two and a half year old boy risked drowning yesterday in the swimming pool of a private house in the Vicinale Renda district, in Monreale. The child was playing when, for reasons not yet cleared, he was found poured into the water by family members. The baby was no longer breathing. While the family members called the emergency services of 118, a nurse who was at home gave him heart massage and was able to revive him. The baby's heart started beating again.

In the meantime, a rescue helicopter with medical personnel on board has approached near the private house, while an ambulance with a resuscitator has also arrived in the area. The area, where the house with swimming pool is built, however, is impervious and there were no suitable conditions for the helicopter landing.

The child was thus transported by ambulance to the 'Giovanni Di Cristina' pediatric hospital in Palermo. The little one arrived at the hospital in code red and is hospitalized there with a confidential prognosis, waiting to ascertain any brain damage. The conditions of the child, however, say the doctors who treated him, are gradually improving. The investigations are conducted by the Carabinieri.
