The G20 Finances continues this Saturday July 10 in Venice.

At the center of the debates: the reform of the taxation of multinationals to put an end to tax havens by establishing a global tax of at least 15% on profits.

During these meetings in Italy, a high-level group of experts also submitted its report on how to prepare for new pandemics.

And this report urges the G20 to act very quickly.

The only solution to prevent the Covid-19 scenario from happening again is, for the group of experts, to invest much more than before.

Beyond domestic investments, governments are called upon to increase international funding for pandemic prevention and preparedness by at least $ 15 billion per year for five years.

The experts have arguments to incite the big money-makers of the planet to get their hands on the wallet.

This investment would reduce the risk of events occurring that weigh 300 times more on government budgets than suggested international and domestic investments.

But money is not everything ...

The report encourages strengthening governance in this area.

The current system is too fragmented and complex in the eyes of experts who are proposing the creation of a new Global Council on Health Threats.

This mechanism would bring together the finance and health ministers of the G20 + and international organizations.

Global governance is also one of the four weak points identified by the experts, along with the surveillance of infectious diseases, the resilience of national health systems and the global capacity in terms of vaccine production.

A Finance and Health G20 is scheduled for October.
