After a two-week stay in Kinshasa, Annie Chebeya left the capital of the DRC on Friday July 9.

The widow of the former executive director of the Voice of the Voiceless for Human Rights, assassinated on June 1, 2010, had returned to the country after eleven years of exile in Canada.

During her stay in Kinshaha, Annie Chebeya obtained a promise from the authorities that the trial of the assassination, at the beginning of June 2010, of her husband Floribert and her collaborator Fidèle Bazana, should be held soon. Among the personalities met by Annie Chebeya during her stay are the President of the Republic, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi, Prime Minister Sama Lukonde and Minister of Justice Rose Kiese. No direct contact, on the other hand, took place with the new leaders of the Voices of the Voiceless (VSV). Supervised by her lawyers, Annie Chebeya confided in RFI's microphone.

“

The president said it's up to justice to do its job properly.

As the guarantor of the nation, he will follow how it will unfold.

So, he wants it done correctly and according to the law because he promises

rule of law.

He really wants the law and justice to be fair and especially that the murderers of Floribert do not go unpunished.

So he really wants these people to be arrested, tried and punished properly

 ”.

Rfi: Have you met those who remained in charge of the VSV?

“

Unfortunately, no.

Since 2012, the president of the

Voix des Sans

Voix (VSV)

- who had replaced Floribert Chebeya - called me to tell me that he was withdrawing from the case. Even if I call them, even if I write to them, they do not answer. Today, I came to the Congo. They never saw me. We set up mini-meetings so that I could meet them, but they left as soon as they knew I was going to be there. So I leave with a lot of sadness. But what really hurts me is that they changed the status of the Voice of the Voiceless. They removed, from the history of the Voix des Sans-Voix, the founder Floribert. I've decided. I want to sue them so that the name “Voices of the Voiceless” be removed because that is my husband's identity. It is his cachet. It was he who created it.

 "

Regarding the assassination of Floribert Chebeya and Fidèle Bazana, three police officers in exile confessed to RFI.

Two others: the commander of the Simba battalion, Christian Kenga Kenga and his right-hand man, Jacques Mugabo, are now under arrest.

Suspected of having ordered the crime, the former Inspector General of Police, General John Numbi, fled.

He is wanted for association of criminals and desertion abroad.

The file is already at the High Military Court which must set the date for the reopening of the trial.
