July 10, 2021 The percentage of genotyped cases of Covid-19 is up from around 0.5% in January to 6% in June. This is the data contained in the variant bulletin announced yesterday by the president of the Higher Institute of Health (Iss), Silvio Brusaferro, who highlighted that in Italy "the Alfa variant remains dominant" but "the Kappa and Delta variant are today at 27, 7% and the Gamma or Brazilian variant also remains in circulation at around 12% ". The data are updated as of July 5, 2021.



The bulletin recalls that as of April 29, 2021, the platform for the genomic surveillance of variants of SARS-CoV-2 (I-Co-Gen), developed and coordinated by the ISS, is active.



The module, dedicated to analyzing and sharing SARS-CoV-2 sequencing data nationwide, has more than 7,000 sequences. Over 70 lineages not monitored by the Integrated Surveillance System have been identified.
