Full details of the assassination of the Haitian president .. "The killers speak Spanish"

Haiti's ambassador in Washington, Puket Edmond, revealed that the killers of Haitian President Jovenel Moise were mercenaries who came from abroad, and "carried out a commando operation. We do not know if they are still in the country or left, and we have a video of the operation."

In a conference call, the ambassador added that the killers spoke Spanish.

Edmond revealed that the Haitian president spoke last January of his death threat because of the reforms he wanted to achieve in the country.

"We don't want to accuse anyone of being behind the assassination before the investigation is over," Edmund said.

"We do not know where the mercenaries came from, but we know that if they leave the country, there is only one way out, and that is the border with the Dominican Republic," he added.

"I have no doubt that the authorities in the Dominican Republic will cooperate with us in the investigation of the assassination, because it is not possible for mercenaries to leave the country to cross the border and we call on the international community to help us in the investigation to identify the perpetrators," Gudmond said.

Today, Wednesday, the Haitian president was assassinated in his home and his wife was injured, announced the transitional Prime Minister, Claude Joseph, who took over the leadership of the country, calling on citizens to maintain their calm in a country witnessing confrontations between gangs and political crises.

The Haitian ambassador revealed that the condition of the first lady of Haiti is stable, but she is in a critical condition.

He explained that there is an international reservation and opposition to the strengthening of the Haitian army, and there is a focus on strengthening the police, which made the borders open to mercenaries to enter the country and carry out the assassination.

Edmond called on the international community to equip and strengthen the Haitian army to enable it to protect the country's borders, because it is unacceptable for a commando squad to come to Haiti and kill the president and leave the country, as he put it.

Moise assumed the presidency of Haiti, the poorest country in the Americas, by decree after postponing the legislative elections that were scheduled for 2018 due to differences, including the end of his term.

In addition to the political crisis, kidnappings for ransom have increased in the past few months, reflecting the growing influence of armed gangs in the Caribbean nation.

Haiti is also mired in chronic poverty and faces frequent natural disasters.

Biden

In this context, US President Joe Biden stressed, on Wednesday, that the United States is ready to assist the Haitian people, and will continue to work for their security and safety, after the assassination of the country's president.

Biden added that the assassination of the Haitian president is of great concern, adding, "We need more information."
