A truck loaded with vegetables and pallets caught fire on Bundesstraße 43 in the immediate vicinity of Frankfurt Airport. There was heavy smoke that was visible from afar. Although a 73-year-old woman was hit by an approaching S-Bahn at the train station in Griesheim in southern Hesse, she suffered only minor injuries.

She had illegally crossed the tracks on Wednesday, as the federal police announced.

"Despite the rapid braking of the S-Bahn, a collision could not be prevented," it said. The woman was taken to a hospital. The investigation continued. The federal police initiated an administrative offense procedure. She spoke of "luck in misfortune" and warned: "An unauthorized stay in the track area is life-threatening."
