The review of the second supplementary budget bill worth 33 trillion won begins today (8th).

This supplementary budget also includes the 5th disaster relief fund to overcome the damage caused by COVID-19.

Prime Minister Bu-gyeom Kim will deliver a speech on government administration to pass the second supplementary budget bill at the National Assembly plenary session held at 10 am.

In today's speech, Prime Minister Kim will emphasize the need for the passage of a supplementary budget, saying that the number of new infections has increased rapidly due to the recent spread of the Corona 19 delta mutation, and the number of small business owners and self-employed people who have suffered economic damage as a result has increased.

In addition, it is known that the background of the decision to support the bottom 80% of the income bracket will be explained again in response to the controversy over the selective payment of disaster aid, which has been controversial until recently.

The Democratic Party held a general meeting of policy makers yesterday, one day before the extraordinary supplementary budget correction speech, to discuss the subject and method of disaster aid payment, which had already been agreed upon between the parties.

It is reported that the majority of the National Assembly said that disaster assistance should be provided to all citizens, not to the bottom 80% of income.

Therefore, there is a forecast that the target and amount of support may change during the review process of the supplementary budget plan.

The National Assembly will conduct preliminary examinations by standing committees based on Prime Minister Kim's address on corrections.

The ruling and opposition parties agreed on the agenda for this month's extraordinary session on the 5th, and set the passing time of the second supplementary budget to the 23rd.

In addition, it was agreed to be the chairman of the special committee on budget settlement for the purpose of handling the supplementary budget bill as Rep. Park Hong-geun of the Democratic Party of Korea.

The opposition party is planning to stipulate the detailed execution plan of the supplementary budget bill hastily and cut unnecessary budget by conducting detailed verification.
