Roger Federer, who had made Wimbledon his goal after more than a year of absence and a double knee operation, was eliminated in the quarterfinals by the Polish Hubert Hurkacz (18th world) 6-3, 7- 6 (7/4), 6-0.

The Swiss, who will be 40 years old in August and dreamed of a 9th coronation on London turf to bring his record for Grand Slam titles to 21, therefore lets Hurkacz advance to the semi-finals.

The Pole will face Félix Auger-Aliassime (19th) or Matteo Berrettini (9th) for a place in the final.
