Two and a half weeks after the last restrictions were lifted, the Covid-19 figures are on the rise in France, raising fears of a fourth wave in September, or even earlier.

The number of contaminations continues to increase for the tenth consecutive day.

Public Health France thus identifies this Wednesday 4,081 new cases of Covid-19 in the country.

The national incidence rate, that is to say the number of cases per 100,000 inhabitants, climbs from 23 to 24 and the test positivity rate also registers a slight increase.

In Paris, it is even 54, while the Delta variant is now the majority.

This is the first department to cross the alert threshold again.

This increase in contamination is especially striking among young adults.

In one week, it has almost doubled among 20-29 year olds.

Convince the recalcitrant

At the Ministry of Health, Olivier Véran's entourage is particularly observing the evolution of the epidemic in the United Kingdom where contamination is soaring because of the Delta variant.

We can end up with this situation,

" warns an adviser to the minister.

The government is therefore increasing the calls for a "mass vaccination".

And if after two weeks of decreases, appointments for vaccination are on the rise, the executive has some leads to convince the recalcitrant.

The compulsory vaccination of caregivers seems to have been acquired, but other measures are on the table: the delisting of tests, the obligation to be vaccinated to go to restaurants or museums, or even, more daring, a lottery as in the United States. United.

Prime Minister Jean Castex will talk about it this Thursday with the associations of elected officials.

The government wants to go quickly, so as not to be overtaken by the variant.

The new measures could be adopted on Tuesday in the Council of Ministers.
