On June 30, the Landes was the only department to extend the last confinement restrictions, maintained in phase 3 until July 6.

This transition to phase 4 will notably allow the end of gauges in confined spaces.

But some measures are extended until July 21.

The Landes, one of the departments most affected by the Covid-19, has lifted the last confinement restrictions, in view of a "stable" health situation, while deciding to extend certain measures for 15 days, announced on Wednesday Prefecture.

The "stable" health situation now allows "the passage of the department in the last (and fourth) phase of deconfinement", announced the prefect Cécile Bigot-Dekeyzer in a press release, at a time when the situation deteriorates in other departments.

Unlike the rest of mainland France, on June 30, the Landes had been the only department to extend the last confinement restrictions, maintained in phase 3 until July 6.

End of gauges in confined spaces

The transition to phase 4 now allows in the department the end of gauges in closed spaces (restaurants, cinemas, shops ...) as is the case elsewhere. But the prefecture adds a downside by extending certain measures "until July 21 inclusive", "to consolidate the health situation". Thus, "gatherings, meetings or activities on public roads or in places open to the public" with more than 20 people simultaneously remain prohibited, as do "open-air festivals", "shows and concerts with the public standing and in establishments open to the public ".

The prefecture also maintains the maximum level of 5,000 people seated in establishments open to the public as well as the ban on consuming alcohol "on public roads and in public outdoor spaces in certain municipalities".

The obligation to wear a mask is also extended "to high density areas in the most touristic towns".

"The health situation is contained by the measures taken"

With an incidence rate oscillating over the last ten days around the alert threshold of 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (between 48 and 57), the "health situation is contained by the measures taken within the framework of the departmental action plan "reinforced on June 30.

Since then, the number of clusters - 7 - has remained stable (5 concern companies and 2 nursing homes).

But this situation remains "atypical" because of an incidence "greater than the national rate (24.1)" and the proportion of Delta variant, the majority, in the department, which "intensifies with a penetration level of 82 % of tests screened for the week of June 21 to 26 and 85% for the week of June 28 to July 2 ".

The serious forms are however "moderate": on July 5, 4 people were in intensive care.

The prefecture and the ARS reiterate their calls for "vigilance", stressing in particular that the New Aquitaine region "compared to others" has a "low level of collective immunity". The prefect once again insisted on accelerating vaccination even if the department has one of the best coverage rates.
