- Since four out of five jobs are created in small and medium-sized companies, it is gratifying that new business is increasing in Kronoberg.

That people want to start, run and develop companies is absolutely crucial for the county's employment and welfare in the future, says Boo Gunnarson, entrepreneurship expert at Visma Spcs.

Pandemic effect

During the pandemic, many have lost their jobs and the fact that entrepreneurship is now increasing is believed to be due to the corona.

- I want to say that it is clearly an effect of the pandemic.

Many people who are thinking of starting their own business do something about it on an occasion like this.

Then you think that now the situation will test something new, says Boo Gunnarson.

Increases in both counties

612 new companies were started during the first half of 2021 in Kronoberg County, an increase of 11 percent compared with the corresponding period last year.

In Kalmar County, 625 new companies were started during the first half of this year.

This is an increase of 9 percent compared to the same period last year.

In actual figures, this means 60 new companies in Kronoberg and 53 new ones in Kalmar County in comparison with the same period last year.

New record in the country

At the same time, the new registration of companies throughout the country broke a record for an individual six months, according to new statistics from the Swedish Companies Registration Office compiled by Visma.

A total of 40,108 new companies were started in the country, which means a new record - never before has Sweden received so many new companies in a single half year.

In Sweden, there are around one million companies registered with the Swedish Companies Registration Office, most of which are small companies with up to nine employees.
