On July 3, Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, the streets were in a mess after mud and rocks flowed through, and a bus plunged into the mud.

  According to Atami City, when search and rescue personnel carried out search and rescue activities at the scene on the 5th, a trapped person was found on the west side of the Tokaido Shinkansen track. At that time, the person was in a state of cardiopulmonary arrest and was subsequently confirmed dead.

  In addition to the three deceased previously discovered, the death toll from this mudslide disaster has increased to four.

  In addition, search and rescue personnel also found two survivors on the 5th, but fortunately, none of them were injured.

  Atami City Government stated that there are 215 residents in the affected area, of which 135 have been confirmed to be safe. However, the safety of 80 people has not yet been confirmed.

  The city government believes that this may include people who have moved before, and it is currently preparing to make the names of these 80 people public to confirm their safety status as soon as possible.
