He noted that the story with the names "very old" and "in many ways still came from Soviet times."

Peskov added that he would refrain from detailed comments on this topic.

“The law has been adopted, it must be implemented,” said Peskov.

The Kremlin spokesman also said that the Russian wine industry "is developing very quickly and efficiently, despite all the crisis moments."

He added that the industry will be strongly supported.

Earlier, RBC reported that the foreign producer of alcoholic beverages Moët Hennessy sent a letter to its Russian partners with a decision to stop the supply of champagne to Russia for an indefinite period.

Later, Bloomberg, citing the company, reported that Moët Hennessy had agreed to change the labeling from "champagne" to "sparkling wine" for products supplied to Russia.

The decision followed after a law was passed in Russia, according to which the name "champagne" is allowed to be used only for drinks produced in Russia.
