  According to reports, on July 4, the Olympic torch came to Ibaraki Prefecture and began a two-day relay there.

At around 7:30 pm on the 4th local time, when the torch reached Mito City, a crowd of onlookers on the side of the road suddenly sprayed an unknown liquid with a water gun to the torch. This population also chanted slogans such as "Against the Olympics".

  The local police said that they subsequently arrested the 53-year-old woman on suspicion of "violent obstruction of official duties."

After investigation, this person was unemployed and lived in nearby Hitachi City. She confessed to spraying the torch with a water gun.
