Presidential: Delphine Batho candidate for the primary of environmentalists

The president of Generation Ecology Delphine Batho is a candidate for the primary of ecologists for the presidential election, "for another ecology", which "assumes the decline", she announced Monday on BFMTV / RMC.

"I am a candidate for the environmentalists' primary because protecting the French from global warming, from the effects, from the impacts linked to the destruction of nature is now a question of national security from which all the consequences must be drawn and which involves in my eyes another ecology ", explained the former minister.

"Environmentalists are in a position to be in the second round if they give themselves the means"

"The meaning of my candidacy is to guarantee that there will be an environmentalist ballot in the 1st round of the presidential election," said Delphine Batho, who "considers that environmentalists are in a position to be in the 2nd turn if they give themselves the means and if they do a job of credibility, of culture of government ".

That which is "for the ecological regulation of the market economy" says "to assume to be for degrowth, to be for a balance between human necessities and the necessities of the preservation of the living".

"Political ecology was born because we never take into account in decisions the necessities of the climate, of biodiversity. The path of the other ecology is a path of balance between these necessities", pleaded Delphine Batho .

Already five candidates for the primary of environmentalists 

For her, "even if ecology is progressing, this progression is too slow. It is slower than the melting of glaciers, fires, disasters (...) environmentalists must be able to quickly take the responsibilities ". "This implies another ecology, which is addressed to all, which assumes its regal and republican dimension, which assumes degrowth, and which is also independent in relation to the old partisan cleavages, this is the meaning of the other ecology that I propose ".

Delphine Batho is the 5th candidate for the environmentalists primary, scheduled for September: she will be opposed to the mayor of Grenoble Eric Piolle, to the MEP Yannick Jadot, to the former number 2 of the party Sandrine Rousseau, and to Jean-Marc Governatori, co-president of the Cap Ecologie party. The two rounds of the primary will be held on September 16-19 then on September 25-28.
