Chinanews.com, July 5th. According to a report by Chinanet.com, Ocean City, Maryland, USA, was originally scheduled to hold an Independence Day firework show on July 4, local time, but it was cancelled due to an accidental explosion of a pyrotechnic device.

  According to reports, the Ocean City Fire Department stated in a press release that it received an alert on July 4 stating that a “vehicle fire” had occurred near the park and beaches north of the city.

Officials said that the firefighters who arrived at the scene found "no vehicle was on fire", but added that "the fireworks set up on the beach for the town's fireworks show accidentally exploded."

  The fire department said that the employees of the fireworks company who arranged the fireworks display “suffered minor injuries” but “refused to go to the hospital.

Local officials also said that it is believed that no other people were injured on the boardwalk or on the beach when the explosion occurred.

  Ocean City Fire Chief Bowers said in a statement: "Our firefighters are investigating the cause of the accidental discharge at the scene."

  Local officials said that out of "very cautious" considerations, they decided to cancel "all fireworks displays in Ocean City" originally scheduled to celebrate Independence Day.
