Biden: Corona has not been defeated yet

US President Joe Biden warned Sunday at an Independence Day celebration that Covid-19 has not yet been "defeated" even if Americans have made tremendous progress against the pandemic.

"Covid-19 has not been defeated. We all know that powerful mutants have emerged, such as the delta mutant," he told a large gathering of guests at the White House.

But he added, "245 years ago, our country was independent from Britain, and today it is independent of the Corona virus."

The president spoke about the "greatness" of the United States and its people and the sacrifices of its soldiers, saying: "We are a great nation, the most powerful idea in the history of the world. We do not work to bury mistakes, but rather confront them and work to find solutions to them," vowing that "we see the best future for America."
