Sentences ranging from one year in prison to 5 years were pronounced Friday against five young people, three girls and two boys, prosecuted for having raped and tortured one of their acquaintances, then aged 14 years.
The case was judged behind closed doors last week in Lyon before the assizes du Rhône.
In July 2018, under the pretext of revenge, the victim was forcibly taken to an abandoned house in Villeurbanne in order to undergo, for nearly 48 hours, a whole series of acts of barbarism and humiliation.
Sentences lower than requisitions

. The attorney general had asked for up to 12 years in prison. Considered one of the most involved protagonists, a young girl, aged 17 at the time, finally received a 5-year sentence. It was she who had hit the teenager with planks and electric cables, also forcing her to perform oral sex on one of her comrades, at the threat of a knife. The boy in question was also sentenced to 5 years in prison, part of which was suspended.
The young man, who would have given instructions from a distance from Algeria, was sentenced to 3 years, part of which was suspended on probation, against 10 years requested by the Advocate General.
Finally, two young girls who had filmed the rape scene and the torture sessions without intervening, were respectively sentenced to one year in prison suspended and three years.
A sixth protagonist, aged 14 at the material time, is to be tried in the juvenile court at a later date.
