In Burkina Faso, people demonstrated on Saturday and Sunday, July 4 in several towns across the country to denounce the worsening security situation.

Among the demonstrators, the inhabitants of Madjoari, located about a hundred kilometers from the town of Fada Ngourma, in the eastern region.

In recent weeks, armed groups have sealed off all roads in the town, establishing an embargo.

At the call of opposition political parties and some social organizations, thousands of demonstrators called for more measures to curb attacks attributed to armed groups.

This is particularly the case for the municipality of Madjoari.

"

Madjoari is emptying

" is precisely the message launched during the opposition demonstration by the municipal authorities of this commune in the eastern region.

Only a thousand people out of the 14,000 in the municipality are still there, said Dierigou Koaré, the second deputy mayor of Madjoari.

“

The terrorists came to evict all the villages.

Out of the eight villages, only one district of the village of Tambarga exists because the detachment is next to this district.

We want to denounce this to say frankly that Madjoari is emptying,

 ”he says.

Everything starts to fail

The armed groups gave the populations an ultimatum to leave the commune.

The inhabitants who were able to escape took refuge in Porga and Koalou, towns on the border of Benin, and in other municipalities such as Pama or Nadiagou.

In Madjaori, everything is starting to fail, worries the deputy mayor.

 It's very serious.

The few inhabitants who are there are stranded.

It is a total security embargo.

We can no longer go out because the terrorists have blocked all the roads.

The authorities are aware of this and what is very serious is that a liter of gasoline costs 3,000 francs, cooking oil costs 3,000 francs.

There is no more salt, we have nothing, everything is over

 ”.

The armed men control the various access routes to the town.

For the second deputy mayor, there is an urgent need to free the inhabitants of Madjoari from this embargo imposed by the armed groups.
